Easter weekend recap

Events

04/18
Easter in Switzerland was packed with a lot of eSport action. PolyLAN in Lausanne and Lock and Load in Sursee gave us not only one but two great locations to spend your weekend with all your gaming friends. Our teams were on both events, time to recap what they’ve achieved.

Polylan #31 with SILENT.OW

With over 1300 players, PolyLAN belongs to one of the biggest LAN-Parties this year. Outside of Lausanne, people have gathered to battle in all relevant esport titles.

SILENT.OW arrived on Friday and was soon ready to try and take home yet another LAN trophy this year. People were seeing SILENT.OW as clear favourites of the Overwatch tournament, even though there were a lot of contenders like Lausanne-eSports and E-LVETS-Horizon.

The group stage started on Saturday at around 09:00 and the first opponent was E-LVETS-Horizon which were beaten with a clear 2-0 scoreline. SILENT.OW continued to win with a 2-0 score against noetic, Varsity.OW and DreamTeam Uprising.

The last opponent of the group stage was also their biggest rival in this tournament, Lausanne-eSports.

Even though SILENT.OW commented their game as “shaky”, they were able to take the game home with 2-1 after 3 maps. Finishing the group stage on rank #1.

Time to move onwards to the playoff stage, which started around 21:00 in the evening. Thanks to the good seed, earned by placing first in the group stage, SILENT.OW was matched against Les Golfeurs, which were no match for our boys. 2-0 to SILENTGAMING.

The opponent in the quarter-finals was eQuinox which were also beaten 2-0. In the semi-final, SILENT.OW played against Varsity.OW again. But just like in the group stages, our Overwatch heroes managed to beat them 2-0 ending their day in the winner bracket final against Lausanne-eSports.

The winner bracket final was played on Sunday at around 09:00 and determined, which team advances to the grand final directly. The rematch against Lausanne-eSports turned out to be an interesting match but SILENT.OW was prepared and took the game home 2-1 and earned their spot in the grand final!

Lausanne-eSports managed to make their way through the lower bracket final, which resulted in a third matchup between the "romands" and our team in the grand final.

Our boys were on fire during the finals. After two close games, SILENT.OW took the third game in convincing fashion and grabbed that prestigious PolyLAN #31 trophy!

GG SILENT.OW! We’re very proud of your performance.

"We prepared a lot for PolyLAN and we are really happy how it turned out. We weren`t sure if we can keep dominating the scene but once again we could show our potential. The victory at PolyLAN gives us confidence and power to keep moving forward and prove ourselves." - Philipp "Honey" Gloor

Lock and Load #10 with SILENT.CS and SILENT.PUBG

Even though Lock and Load “only” had 500 participants compared to the 1400 participants of PolyLAN, a lot of CS:GO teams travelled to Sursee this weekend.

Among them were villains!, Team Above, several mix teams with well-known players in the Swiss scene and of course SILENTGAMING. Besides that, Lock and Load did also run a PUBG tournament in which our SILENT.PUBG team participated.

˝We’ll show everyone that Burgdorf was a slip which isn’t going to happen again.˝

Sascha "zuLLEE" Kurbalija

SILENT.CS

That was the statement from Sascha “zuLLEEE” Kurbalija before the event, urging his team to perform better than the latest events before Lock and Load.

The tournament started on Friday night with a group stage where SILENT.CS was placed in group C alongside eRazed.Rage, 1337 mi aim esch mer blebe and Babos Gaming. Our CS:GO team started with a strong performance and took down 1337 mi aim esch mer blebe with a 16-1 and Babos Gaming with a 16-2 scoreline. For the last game of the group stage, eRazed.Rage was beaten in a similar convincing fashion, 16-6. Thus securing rank #1 in their group and ending their Friday evening.

Playoffs started on Saturday morning and SILENT.CS was ready, taking out dizzyAC with a 16-1. The next round was the first test for our boys, facing 12erLegenden with players like Merca, r0b and rustyyy. A difficult game on de_cache sent our team to the lower bracket, as 12erLegenden took the game with a 3-16 score.

But SILENT.CS didn’t give up and started their fight through the lower bracket. First up was Neuch eSport which were beaten in a BO1 with a scoreline of 16-9. The next opponent was Equinox which were beaten 2-0 in a BO3. SILENT.CS advanced to the lower bracket final where they’ve faced the next big test: ferraripeek.

This time, our boys were prepared and took them down in two games: 2-0!

Time for the consolation final against villains! which lost to Team Above in the winner bracket final.

It was a long Saturday and the game started at around 02:00 on Sunday morning, a difficult environment for both teams as they’ve both played for nearly 15 hours now.

The whole BO3 series emerged to be a very close game with villains! taking the first map and SILENT.CS fighting back on the second map. The decider map was de_mirage. SILENT.CS took a confident lead on the T-side but wasn’t able to fully close it out on the CT-side, resulting in a 15-15 draw and overtime.

Unfortunately, SILENT.CS wasn’t able to keep up the pace during overtime and was defeated by villains! - 16-19.

SILENTGAMING finished 3rd in the Lock and Load CS:GO tournament, keeping their promise of a better result. Well done boys!

"It was a good LAN, we've prepared a lot and were able to show most of it. Unfortunately we weren't able to fully fight back in the lower bracket. We've lost the lower bracket final due to mistakes in deciding moments. Overall we're happy and want to build upon this performance. We'd like to thank SILENTGAMING for the support and see you at the next LAN." - Sascha "zuLLEE" Kurbalija

SILENT.PUBG

Currently gaining a lot of momentum in the esport scene and thus of course not forgotten: The PUBG side-tournament!

Our SILENT.PUBG team participated in the squad tournament and the duos tournament. Ownkel and Elesde managed to take home the second place at the duo's tournament, while Sjoo and bancholinho got third. In the squad tournament, however SILENT.PUBG took home the first place. A stunning performance, well done!

Phew. Quite a lot of action we’ve had this weekend but we loved it! We’d like to congratulate all our teams for their performance. A big thank you to the organisers of PolyLAN and Lock and Load for setting up 2 great esport events. We’re already looking forward to the next episodes of your LAN-Parties.

You can find some impressions on our Instagram account. Make sure to check it out!

Over and out. 🔚
