After reaching the No Mercy League Season 1 finals SILENT.OW has sworn to come back stronger than ever in season 2. During the break, our boys worked hard to fix errors whi has been made and to advance their team as well as their individual play. Sadly, we also had to say goodbye to the team’s tank player Tino “tno” Knobel. The SILENTGAMING family thanks him for his time and effort and wishes him all the best for the future. To replace the considerable gap left by him, the team reached deep into the Swiss talent pool and pulled out a player already very well acquainted with SILENTGAMING. With Cedric “Atlas” Baumann a former member of SILENT.OW has joined our ranks. With the once again complete lineup the team attacked the 2nd NML season with vigor.
The first of four cups was played on the 1st of July, featuring eight teams. Most notably of those: Servette Geneva eSports, SPGeSports, mYinsanity and of course SILENTGAMING. SILENT.OW got matched up with the favorites of this tournament, Servette Geneva eSports right in the first game! Although losing the match overall, Thomas “SirTH” Henzler and his team managed to sell their hides dearly and even managed to take a map of the Polylan champions.
Cup number 2, sporting mostly the same teams (plus a few additions) took place on the 16th of July. The results of this cup were looking very much like in the first one. Servette Genve eSports managed once more to win all their matches securing their lead with a flawless record. Behind them a close battle between SPGesports, SILENTGAMING and mYinsanity ensued. SPGesports and our own team managed to win all their games except against Geneva, giving us both a 3:1 record. Close behind followed mYinsanity with 2:2.
The captain of our team, SirTH has taken some time to summarize what he thinks of the chances for SILENTGAMING in the following cups and to qualify for the offline finals:
With NML S2 reaching halftime already it’s pretty predictable who’s going to be playing the offline finals this season: the newcomer to NML, Servette Geneva eSports, the winner of last Season: SPG, MYI and us. There are definitely 2-3 other teams that have potential but still need some improvement. Because S2 is being played during the “Summer Break” I’d say that the gap between the teams hasn’t really changed and the winner of the last two qualifiers (Servette Geneva eSports) is definitely on the same level as NYX eSports was on last season.
˝However I’m confident in saying that we definitely have a chance of getting to the offline finals˝
Concerning our chances it’s not easy to tell where we stand, because we only got matched against Servette so far. However I’m confident in saying that we definitely have a chance of getting to the offline finals and winning this cup due to our new addition to the team: Atlas and a possible meta-shift with the release of Doomfist. We just need some more time to practice 😉
Sadly, Abaddon and I won’t be able to play the next qualifier due to the fact that we are going on vacation abroad.
But I’m counting on my team and the two substitutes that we arranged to rock the 3rd qualifier nevertheless.
