Recap: First quarter of 2018

SILENTGAMING

20/
04/18
The first quarter went by in a blink of an eye. We’re ready to rock the upcoming season, but before that, we’re going to take a look what happened over the past three months and show you what our #SILENTFamily was up to.

EEvent 9 in St. Gallen

The esports year for everyone started with the ninth edition of EEvent in St. Gallen.
Our teams were ready and awakened from their hibernation during Christmas and took home several victories.
SILENT.OW managed to clinch the win in the Overwatch tournament with a stunning performance and without loosing a single map.
In the League of Legends tournament, SILENT.LOL managed to reach the grand final but fell to mYinsanity, taking home the second place.
SILENT.CS was taken down in the semi-finals and placed 4th in their first LAN of this year.
Besides the usual Esport action, we were happy to finally start the LAN-season in 2018 with a promising start.

EEvent X in Burgdorf

In February we were blessed with another EEvent. This time, the tenth edition was taking place in Burgdorf, Bern.
SILENT.CS
were determined to do better but failed to advance in the group stages.
In Overwatch however, SILENT.OW remained unbeaten and won the whole tournament with yet another exemplary performance.

We’ve also created a video, following the footsteps of our Overwatch team during the whole event:

LockAndLoad in Sursee

Easter arrived and instead of searching for their Easter baskets, our SILENT.CS team was in Sursee, looking to find a spot in the top 3 of the Counter-Strike tournament.
After their slow start at the very beginning of the year, SILENT.CS stepped up their game and placed third after a very close loss to villains! and proved, they’re still a force to be reckoned.
SILENT.PUBG
was having a party in their respective game. They've has placed third and second in the duo's tournament and took home the first place at the squad tournament.

PolyLAN #31 in Lausanne

While shooter fans had their eyes looking towards Sursee, Overwatch fans were fully focused and had their minds in Lausanne and the 31th edition of PolyLAN.
SILENT.OW went in as the favourites and were able to win yet another LAN tournament.
Three out of three - fair to say, they’re currently the non-plus-ultra in Swiss Overwatch.
They were able to beat Lausanne eSports in a long awaited clash with a 3-1 scoreline.

Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice

Because Swiss events aren’t enough for us, some community members went to the Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice to enjoy world class Counter-Strike.
Unfortunately (at least for me, I guess) NiP went out pretty early.
This gave our crew the opportunity to meet the legend f0rest in a bar nearby.

We’re more than just a gaming community as you can see. If you’d like to be a part of SILENTGAMING and enjoy moments like these, make sure to check out our job’s site and join our editorial team.

Management Trip in Riga

Every year around this time, the whole SILENTGAMING management enjoys a prolonged weekend trip to discuss the goals for the upcoming year and spend some time together.
This year we’ve visited Riga in Latvia and enjoyed a beautiful city, awesome people and good food.
At the end of this trip, we went home with a very good feeling for the upcoming year. We’re definitely ready for 2018 and we’ve got some awesome news coming up.

ButterLAN in Lüterkofen

Oh Lüterkofen, we’ve missed you and all of the ButterLAN crew during 2017.
Not only for the esports part but also for the awesome atmosphere and time we’re able to spend at your events.
This year didn’t change anything of that. We’ve had a beautiful weekend and enjoyed every second of it.

Besides the fun part, Hofme and Dark participated at the Fireside gathering in Hearthstone.
Hofme was able to place third at the end, skipping the game for rank 3 and splitting the money between him and Hadek.
Even better: In CS:GO a community mix of SILENTGAMING players took home the first place.

Swiss Esports League

Last but not least, nearly all of our players were participating in the SESL Winter Season.
SILENT.CS managed to qualify for the playoffs but unfortunately lost to team above and mYinsanity, placing 4th in this season.
Our Hearthstone squad had one player qualifying for the playoffs, our youngster Dark.
However he wasn’t able to go through and finished the season on rank 4 aswell.

And then we have our dominating boys from SILENT.OW.
They’ve qualified for the grand final, which will be taking place tomorrow at the SihlCity in Zürich.

The whole SILENTGAMING crew will be holding the yearly general assembly at the morning.
Afterwards we will be at SihlCity to support our team and turn it into a SILENTGAMING stronghold!
We’re inviting everyone out there to enjoy a beautiful day with us and hope to see some familiar faces.
We’re hyped!

That’s it, this was our first quarter of 2018.
A lot has already happened and even more is going to happen during the next quarters and we’re thrilled for all the matches, events and LANs!
